Today I woke up at 1:30PM.
And then I made myself a big breakfast.
And then I remembered that my younger sister was having the family over for dinner.
A sort of Christmas Eve Ever dinner.
So, I had to go eat MORE.
Here are some photos:
I'm really into blurry photos lately.
I was trying to pack my apartment by myself today, but all I succeeded in doing was getting drunk by myself and listening to music really loud. I figured I would want some beer, so I packed four to drink. I called Emilie, my friend and neighbor, and asked her to make me a drink, too. (Usually she'll make me picon, a very good French drink with picon, white wine, and some other stuff; but she only had vodka and gin. So, I had a gin and tonic.) Good stuff.
I can't believe how much of a recluse I had become this summer. I wouldn't leave the apartment for days at a time; I'd stay holed up with my sewing machine, beer, and speed. Having spent some time away from my apartment and then coming back to it today, I can honestly say I was crazy this summer. All the little projects I kept myself involved in...all way too focused and insane. I was even trying to make a sort of satellite! (There was reasoning behind it, I swear, but saying it outloud, explaining what I was doing to others, it sounds crazy.)
I feel weird. I'm hoping I can keep my apartment. I really love it. I don't mind that I only have window units and that the apartment is dusty. It's hella nice and great and in between Rice and my school and behind the CAM and in walking distance to the other museums and it has a nice courtyard and the neighbors are all friendly and just so much fun.
All the rain today and tonight is sorta nice.
I'm watching 'Fresh Prince'. The episodes are really weirding me out. I've seen them before, but they just seem so much different right now. The characters are darker, not their skin, and it seems much more lonely and depressing. I dunno.
I think it's just been a weird weekend, and the fact that I actually went out last night and had fun messes with my head. I'm so used to staying home alone and drinking beer.
Yeah, I basically like anything that sounds good to the ear, which is why in my first "album" I use the sounds like knitting needles/electric toothbrush against a guitar. Keyboards are great, but I don't really have the money to get the things I'd like to fuck around with. I think the only keyboard I use on the album is this Yamaha PSRsomethin' my mother bought me a few years ago. I'm not complaining, though. I'm satisfied. I'm not too hard to impress when it comes to things like that. I mean, the only guitar I own is this cheap Squire, but it's served me welll over the years, and I still use it. I'm not really interested in the sounds of guitars but more in the sounds I can make WITH a guitar, be it putting an electric toothbrush near the pickups, threading an old guitar string through the regular strings, different tunings, etc. Does that make sense?
I know what you mean about being busy and not having the time to record, though I wonder if after I finished recording "Korperkonfigurationen/." I got some sort of feeling of accomplishment and moved onto other things. That's pretty much how I roll: I dabble in lots of things, concentrating on one thing at a time, then going onto the next. Not that I completely forget about the last thing I was doing, I just sorta put it on a backburner for the moment. (I feel like this message is full of total cliches...I apologize; I'm not the best person in e-mail.) I'm TOTALLY anxious about recording a second album. I already know what I'm calling it, and I've thought about making it nothing but me and an acoustic (which seems sorta lame though...), but I think I'm just intimidated by all the work I remember putting into the last album.
So, you and I are doing a music swap. Just send me your first EP, even if you think it sucks--I'll be the judge of that.
Now about sewing/silkscreening...hmm. I don't know where to begin. I've been altering clothing since highschool (but I just got my first sewing machine in June). You know when you think of something, and then you're like, "oh it'd be cool if i did this to it"? Well, that's how sewing's been for me. Did that make sense? It's just something I've always messed with---just needle through fabric. Now about silkscreening, I don't really like to do that too much because it's messy and PLAYED. (Ugh, my rival on Etsy...all he does is silkscreen on American Apparel...) BUT it does come in handy. So to answer your question about how I started silkscreening, just get yrself a Speedball starter kit. They cost about $30something dollars, I think. I bought my first kit in June, too. Go to a crafts and arts store, and look around.\
DUDE, I'm stopping here. I don't know if I answered everything, but I'm stopping because I've gone on for too long.
I'm more of an instant message kinda guy. If yr on AIM or MSN, let me know.
