This is a little water color (with some Joan Crawford-esque eyes taped to it) I did when I was 18.
I had it taped on my guitar:
(Sorry, that's a small photo. But you can kinda see it taped onto the guitar.)
That was around the time I was in my first band called Maybe A Most.
It was a grunge-punk (think like... faster Hole/Nirvana/Mudhoney songs---but we played our songs way faster) band. I sang and played guitar and Brandon S. played the drums.
We dressed really dumb...
(GET READY FOR THIS BAD PHOTO OF ME!)
I was so cool...
Long hair was weird, too.
Oh, and I liked to take webcam photos of myself with my mouth open.
Anyway, Maybe A Most played one show and then broke up the next day.
And I'm sure I've discussed this before.
I think I'm just feeling nostalgic right now (again)---or maybe I'm just pumped about getting a new guitar for my birthday.
Maybe I'm a most.

It's Ben J.'s shirt.
I like it cuz the guy is saying "OH SHIT!" Haha.
And I like the shark.
Today's been a good day:
-this one screen (one of the new designs) I've been trying to make for over a week now FINALLY came out... whew.
-I made myself some underwear that actually fit. (I didn't feel like doing laundry.)
And now I'm off to have dinner at Max and Sarah's! =)

Yesterday I said NO to Cubist Literature and decided to have a day just for myself.
I was still at Parachute, but instead of working on C.Lit-related activities, I worked on Craig-Hunter-related activities.
My main project was a two-part thing, but I'll set it all up for you:
See, I had bought this shirt in Houston a few weeks ago, and it had this really awesome beetle design on it---and it was sorta tie-dyed. (I like tie-dye.) But there was a problem: it was GIGANTIC. Like an XXL or an XXXL. And I couldn't just leave it at the store, so I bought it and took it back to NYC.
So, yesterday I took apart a shirt (size Adult Small) that I don't wear that much and layed out the pieces. I traced the pieces onto paper and made a shirt pattern.
Then I took apart the GIGANTIC shirt and such and laid out the pieces. I took the pattern I'd made and laid it on top of the larger pieces. I cut off the difference and then sewed it all up. Boss.
I think it came out pretty well:
Some parts are kinda awkward, though, because the original shirt was so large. And plus it was my first time working with a pattern.
I'm working my way up to starting on those pants I bought the fabric for. And last night I downloaded the pattern from BurdaStyle.com.
Layla D. (of LEDthread) is going to help me out since she's awesome and went to school for this sorta thing.
(She helped me take my measurements last night... According to her, I have a "big butt." Her words, not mine, cuz I don't like the word "butt". I prefer to use the word "ass".)
Here's another photo I took this morning of me exposing a screen:
The screen didn't really work out, though, unfortunately.
Totally stressing me out. It's the second time I did something wrong. =/
Lydia Lunch is performing next month at the Knitting Factory here in NYC.
I'll be there for sure.
I don't know what to expect, though.
I found these interviews of hers on YouTube from the 80s. They're kinda ridiculous.
She was young? I dunno, dudes.
Oh, and then there's this Teenage Jesus and the Jerks footage:
I wish they had played a better live show.
When I listen to the recorded material, I imagine a very fun/energetic show.
This weekend was odd.
Yesterday was boring.
I'm incredibly bummed out today for reasons I can't say here.
And the fact that it's a Friday afternoon (I don't like Friday afternoons) isn't helping things any.
Here's a song I keep listening to. It's good:
Have a good weekend. (Based on the past couple weeks, I probably won't post again til Monday.)

SELF PORTRAIT THURSDAY!

Spinning yarn on the studio's new spinning wheel.
(The shirt I'm wearing is a shirt I bought from Loyalty and Blood on Sunday morning at the Brooklyn Flea Market. It's a cool shirt full of crazy/"evil" drawings like upside down crosses and anarchy signs and finger parts and decapitated unicorns. Haha. It's boss.)
Currently downloading Free Kitten's new album.
I've heard a few tracks. They're awesome of course.

If you're riding on the B61 heading toward Long Island City (like I was last night when I was going to Williamsburg), you'll go through an area where there is nothing but Hasidic Jews everywhere. (Does that sound racist and/or horrible? I don't mean for it to be.) It's kinda bizarre.
And being inside the bus with non-Hasidic Jewish people... It's kinda like being on a safari or something. It's like I'm in a tour bus "safe" from the "wildlife".
(Did THAT sound racist and/or horrible? I mean for this to come off in the most un-racist/un-horrible way.)
(Oh, Wikipedia just told me this: "The largest groups in Israel today are Ger, Chabad, Belz, Satmar,
Breslov, Vizhnitz, Seret-Vizhnitz, Nadvorna, and Toldos Aharon. In the United States the largest are Lubavitch, Satmar and Bobov, all centered in Brooklyn, New York, and Skver in Rockland County, New York."
Case closed.
In other news...
I've probably showed you this photo before, but let's have another look, shall we?
(That's my mother and me at my high school graduation.)
Today when I was at this bodega waiting for my egg and cheese on a roll, I looked over and saw these packs of nuts:
There are just so many things I have to say about this that I am not going to comment.
Oh, man, I just felt an overwhelming wave of nostalgia. =/
Here are some photos from a couple years ago or so (PRE-etsy):
Well, there WAS a phrase I kept repeating in my head as I was waking up this morning, but I forgot most of it---well, I forgot the first part of it.
The second part of it was:
"...and the security is pharmaceutical."
HOW am I gonna get all this new collection work stuff done before June 1st?
Not sure.
I'm also nervous about having somebody help me because I think that others might think that doing C.Lit isn't actual work and that it's fun all the time. So, when the reality sets in that packing orders and washing screens isn't too entertaining, I'm afraid my helper will get bored.
Oh, wail.
Listen:
I think I'll go make myself a pair of shorts...
Today my Etsy/blog friend Michele Maule stopped by my studio to meet me and hang out.
She's very awesome and very sweet and kind. =)
Here's a photo of us:
I've got some of it hanging above my desk actually. =)
We went out for beers and burgers a little while ago, and soon we're gonna go hang out at Sarah's apartment.
In other news, check out this hat hair I have in this photo:
I gotta run.
But I thought I'd share what's been going on over here today.
Sorry I haven't posted in four days.
I've just been busy.
Got a lotta work to do before June 1st when I unleash my new designs on the world. =)

SELF PORTRAIT THURSDAY!
5.15.08
One year ago I took a photo of myself that made it clear to me that I, too, can gain weight. I had thought that my lying around all the time, drinking beer for breakfast (sometimes I just needed to), not getting out, etc. wouldn't have an effect on me, that I wouldn't gain weight.
Anyway, this is me today:
And here are a couple other ones I liked:
Okay, okay, enough chit chat.
I gotta get back to work.
bye.
