Not digging my face at the moment.

But I AM digging that bookshelf behind me.
I found it on the street near my apartment the other day.

It's exactly what I'd been looking for.
It's kinda old and dirty, but I need shelves and such to put my stuff on.

Sometimes I buy books.
Other times I save books from the garbage---books that I have no interest in reading at all.
(It's just hard for me to see things like that thrown away.)

I'm going to pull a name from a hat because I don't think I can randomly choose a winner. At all.
Some comments that I've gotten I just love so much and I'm like, "Aww, let's give him/her the shirt."

But this is supposed to be random.

I have a book obsession. I cannot give away or throw away books. My favorite books are used books. I generally only buy books from those type of sections. They have more personality to them. I always wonder who might have held he same book and where they read it. And there's nothing like finding someone else's notes in the margins.

I agree!

I can't believe that people would throw away books. My books are my friends. Some of them I don't like at first but after a while I'll realize how awesome they are. Some of them are comforting. I visit them when I'm feeling down. Some of them I have to introduce to other people. I would never throw away my friends!

i hate the idea of throwing away books! there is always someone somewhere who might want to read it and might not have the money to afford to buy -- whether it be new or used. i used to set books out in the hallway i was wanting to give away when i was teaching... somehow they just disappear. now-- i drop them off at a used bookstore or goodwill. Hey -- even if i don't want to go to the hassle of collecting the book credit -- i can still help the business by offering them up. Cheers to your book rescuing!
